Easy Summer Cocktails: Aperol Spritz

With summer comes warmer weather and longer days, which means there's plenty of opportunities for a fun spontaneous get together with friends and family. But what if you could have a fun and easy summer cocktail in your backpocket to whip out and impress your guests?

Introducing the Aperol Spritz, one of Italy’s most famous and popular cocktails. It’s light and refreshing with a balanced bittersweet flavour with hints of herbs, fruits and citrus with an incredible orange colour. And with the help of an iKegger 2.0 mini keg system you can take this delicious cocktail anywhere with ease.

First things first, ingredients and equipment, this recipe is as easy as it comes, its 3 parts prosecco, 2 parts aperol and 1 part soda water, but if you need to know more exact measurements, this recipe has been created to fill one of our 4L kegs but can easily be scaled up or down depending on the size of your keg!

Ingredients: 

• 2L Prosecco

• 1.3L Aperol

• 660mL Soda Water

• Ice

Equipment: 

• 4L iKegger Mini Keg

• 2.0 Tap and Regulator

• 16g co2 bulbs*

• Orange slices for serving

*Depending on how many/much you plan on serving it might be worth investing in a soda stream bottle and adapter (or if you’re doing big events we have adapters to connect your mini keg to larger standard co2 tanks) which will end up cheaper in the long run, and you can exchange empty ones for full ones at most local supermarkets!

If you thought the recipe for a good aperol spritz was easy, the method of making it is just as easy! 

1. Pour your ingredients straight into your keg, gently swirl to mix. 

2. Attach your iKegger 2.0 tap and multi gas regulator to the keg and screw in your co2 bulbs*

3. Slowly press down on the button on the tap, gradually increasing pressure and pour into your ice filled glass

4. Garnish with an orange slice and enjoy

*Because both prosecco and soda water are carbonated you only need a small amount of pressure to push your delicious cocktail out of the keg! The bonus of using a keg instead of just pouring the ingredients straight into your glass or a jug, is that as you push co2 into the keg it’ll fill the empty space, keeping your cocktail carbonated and tasting fresher for longer.
